Understand what is getting in the way—and what could help.

Losing track of tasks, struggling to get started, or feeling constantly behind can affect school, work, and relationships. You may be wondering whether ADHD explains these experiences, either for yourself or your child.

Mansfield Counseling offers individualized ADHD evaluations for children, teens, and adults. We help you explore your concerns and understand the next steps available to you.

When might an ADHD evaluation help?

An evaluation may be worth discussing when ongoing difficulties interfere with everyday life, such as:

  • Staying focused during schoolwork, meetings, or conversations.
  • Organizing tasks and following through on responsibilities.
  • Frequently losing items or forgetting commitments.
  • Managing restlessness or acting before thinking.
  • Maintaining routines despite considerable effort.

These experiences can have several explanations. Sleep problems, anxiety, depression, and other concerns can resemble or occur alongside ADHD. A thorough evaluation considers the broader picture.

ADHD testing for adults

You do not need to have received a diagnosis as a child to ask about ADHD now. Some people first seek an evaluation when the demands of college, work, parenting, or independent living become harder to manage.

An adult evaluation considers current difficulties and childhood experiences. School records and information from someone who knew you growing up may help. If those records or people are unavailable, discuss that with your clinician.

What happens during an evaluation?

  1. Start with your questions.

An initial interview explores your concerns, history, and reasons for seeking testing.

  2. Gather relevant information.

Your clinician selects assessment activities based on your needs. These may include standardized measures, questionnaires, records review, and information from others when appropriate.

  3. Review the findings together.

You receive a written report and a feedback appointment to discuss the results and recommendations.

What can you do with the results?

The evaluation can help guide conversations about treatment, everyday strategies, and possible school or workplace supports. If you need documentation for a particular purpose, tell us before scheduling so we can discuss the requirements.

The findings may support an ADHD diagnosis, identify other concerns, or indicate that further evaluation would be helpful.

Fees and insurance

Private-pay testing is $200 per billable hour, including assessment and related work such as scoring and report preparation. Total costs vary.

We participate with Aetna, Blue Cross Blue Shield, and Cigna for testing. Coverage depends on your plan.
