Pricing & FAQs

Does Mansfield Counseling take insurance?

Our counselors are in-network with Aetna, Blue Cross Blue Shield, Cigna, United Healthcare, UMR, and several other insurance carriers for counseling services. As a courtesy, we are happy to help you look up and use your insurance benefits when you use insurance with Mansfield Counseling (when we are in-network).

However, you should know that filing any claim with your insurance company requires a mental health diagnosis. To get more information about your copay, coinsurance, deductible, or other insurance benefits for both counseling and assessment services, please call your insurance’s member services.

All copays, deductibles, amounts due for out-of-network services, and private pay charges are due in full at the time of service. Please remember that you, not the insurance company, are ultimately responsible for paying the agreed upon fees. If you have questions about your coverage (i.e., copays, deductibles or what is covered by insurance), please contact your insurance company’s member services department. Verification of benefits does not guarantee payment, and the client is responsible for the full cost of sessions.

What does counseling cost?

  • For clients not using insurance, the session fee is $150.00.

  • If using insurance, your insurance benefits may fully cover, or help cover, the cost of counseling. Please contact your insurance company directly for verification of benefits.

What do assessments cost?

  • Our fully Licensed Professional Counselors charge $200.00** per hour of testing and report writing, and our Licensed Professional Counselor-Associates charge $100.00** per hour of testing and report writing.

  • **This is the cost of testing per hour, without insurance benefits. Your insurance benefits may fully cover, or help cover, the cost of testing. Please contact your insurance company directly for verification of benefits.

Do insurance companies pay for assessments?

We are in-network with the following insurance companies to provide testing and assessment services; Aetna, Blue Cross Blue Shield, and Cigna. For all other plans, we are considered out-of-network for testing and assessment services (not the same as counseling services).

How is your testing different than meeting with a psychiatrist?

A psychiatrist is a medical doctor specializing in prescribing medication for mental health or psychiatric conditions. They often interview you and ask you to fill out questionnaires. This is usually a good start for individuals who want to start medication and need a professional to prescribe and monitor how well the medicine is working.

A counselor has a master's or doctoral level (MA or Ph.D.) advanced academic degree. We are trained to provide comprehensive evaluations for mental health conditions. It will involve more in-depth analysis and written reports with diagnoses and recommendations for treatment. Our evaluations can range from 1-3 hours. All evaluations include an initial interview with a counselor to understand your current symptoms and talk with you about whether we think testing would benefit you and what diagnoses we need to rule in (or out). Our evaluations conclude with one-on-one feedback to go over the results with you via a formal written report, and will guide you on the next steps for treatment.

What is an LPC-Associate?

A Licensed Professional Counselor-Associate is a person who has completed their Master's Degree and is licensed in the State of Texas to provide assessment, diagnosis, and treatment. The "associate" status designates that the license holder is within the first 3,000 hours of their post-graduate clinical work experience and meets weekly with a Licensed Supervisor for clinical guidance and direction. Licensed Professional Counselor Associates are licensed by the Texas State Board of Examiners of Professional Counselors to provide clinical health services under the supervision of a Licensed Professional Counselor Supervisor. The Licensed Professional Counselor Associates at Mansfield Counseling who work under the supervision of Jeffrey S Gallup LPC-S, have completed their master’s level education, and are highly skilled and well trained to provide a variety of services.

Do you prescribe medication?

This is not a service we can offer. In the event a client needs psychiatric services, we work closely with several psychiatrists in Mansfield and Arlington and can provide psychiatric referrals when needed. Medication alone cannot solve all issues but can be a great aid to help reduce symptoms so that someone is able to focus on their mental health and growing their coping skills. Our work together is designed to explore the root of the issue, dig deep into your behavior and teach strategies that can help you accomplish your personal and/or relational goals. Medication can be effective and is sometimes needed in conjunction with therapy.

Is what I share in counseling confidential and is my information confidential?

Each counselor at Mansfield Counseling has completed various rigorous Master’s Degrees that all require a semester long course in ethics. Additionally, each counselor has completed, or is in the process of completing, their clinical hours towards formal licensure (LPC, LCSW) which requires each counselor to take continuing education units specifically on ethics each year. Each counselor at Mansfield Counseling reviews state laws and procedures on ethics each year as well.

Mansfield Counseling clinicians will not discuss information about you, your child, or adolescent with outside providers, your family, or your friends without your signed consent (except as required by law).
